In April, the performance of Russian airlines fell sharply. In April 2022, airlines carried about 5 million people, which is 30% lower than in April 2021. Aeroflot has lost about a third of its passenger traffic, but the most serious figures can be observed with Ural Airlines: they lost 45% of passengers.
Experts expected that the decline in passenger traffic would be more serious.
In terms of general statistics:
- S7 remains the leader in terms of traffic: in April, the airline carried about 1 million people, which is 26% less than last year;
- Aeroflot carried about 900 thousand passengers, which is 35% less than last April;
- Pobeda transported 910 thousand people, traffic decreased by 26%;
- “Russia” transported about 540 thousand people, lost about 16%;
- Utair transported almost 370 thousand people, lost 27% compared to April 2021.
In general, despite the fall in passenger traffic, airlines are building forecasts with “restrained optimism”.
